Outreach
I am driven to ignite a passion for biology in those around me. I was fortunate to be motivated early on and I work to make that possible for others. Given the importance of outreach and public communication in science, I’ve explored a couple of different ways to accomplish this. In the process, I have sought, and continue to seek, to be as inclusive as possible and reach diverse audiences while featuring the awe-inspiring research done by underrepresented students and scholars.
Bird Banding Workshops
Since my freshman year of college, I’ve enjoyed participating in bird banding workshops and showing people of all backgrounds the importance of collecting data. The audiences varied greatly and I always tried to tailor the lessons to instill a deeper appreciation for nature.
Media Communication
My senior year of college a group of us collected media for the Macaulay Library at Mpala Research Centre in Kenya. During this time, our team sought to highlight the incredible research being done by the graduate students working there and created a short documentary for the public, now available on the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s YouTube channel!
Popular Science Articles
I enjoy writing science articles for the public to highlight the importance of the research we are doing. Below are links to a couple of them.
